Opening some 7/31 spy calls if we bounce here, Trump is encouraging mask use which will help curb the numbers, good pharmaceutical news coming out, and stim pack on the horizon. Only thing that worries me is potential escalation with China impacting trade.

Currently 78:21 puts vs calls open so trading against the trend.

I like this play. Might buy some early August 320-21 calls for a bounce to 322

AMD ride or die

Largest gain day for my portfolio in a long time

Buy as much AMD as you can, leave it alone for 10 years.

They're making major advances in their server processors and their graphics cards for machine learning. They're gonna be the next big thing for scientific computing, and once people get off Intel's dick through the next round of server upgrades AMD's enterprise sales are gonna go through the fucking roof.

Don't forget this tidbit hot off their recent conference call.

Intel announced today in its Q2 2020 earnings release that it has now delayed the rollout of its 7nm CPUs by six months relative to its previously-planned release date, undoubtedly resulting in wide-ranging delays to the company's roadmaps. Intel's press release also says that yields for its 7nm process are now twelve months behind the company's internal targets, meaning the company isn't currently on track to produce its 7nm process in an economically viable way. The company now says its 7nm CPUs will not debut on the market until late 2022 or early 2023.

Quote
"The company's 7nm-based CPU product timing is shifting approximately six months relative to prior expectations. The primary driver is the yield of Intel's 7nm process, which based on recent data, is now trending approximately twelve months behind the company's internal target."

On the earnings call, Intel CEO Bob Swan said the company had identified a "defect mode" in its 7nm process that caused yield degradation issues. As a result, Intel has invested in "contingency plans," which Swan later defined as including using third-party foundries.

I hope AMD can keep rocking it in the long term just as they're looking to do in the short to medium term.

It's a shame TSMC supplies pretty much everyone as such AMD just can't take literally the whole laptop market in a short amount of time. I don't think they've got the raw materials to do it. But the laptop intel market is slowly but surely shrinking, the same will most happen with phones in the near future especially with Apple trying to reduce their reliance on Intel cpus.

Intel has nothing to show until at least at the very earliest late 2021~ for the general consumer market.

In the short term AMD looking rock solid. It's rumoured pretty heavily that AMD will also be able to compete with NVIDIA in the fall with competitive products in the series 3000 vs. RDNA 2 war. Which is pretty cool, because there was never any reason to get a AMD graphics card for the PC enthusiasts. Intel, isn't even the in the picture as far a CPU goes.

Intel is sitll doing decent in the enterprise market which is a huge section (and "decent" for Intel is absolute domination). People running servers will be more than happy to give up 15% performance for a proven product that doesn't require early-adopter pains. If Intel starts losing ground there though, they'll be in serious trouble as a company.

Oh I know, Intel isn't going anywhere anytime soon. There's so much money in enterprise market and usually the bigger the entity the less they'll be likely to change products

But it's been wild to see them just lose the desktop space and now well on their way to take significant hits in the laptop/phone consumer market. With news getting from bad to worse seemingly every 6-10 months with more and more delays in production. If you had told me 5 years ago that Intel would be in so much trouble in the general consumer market I would've called you crazy.

Also, I want to say that Lisa Su a literal god.

Probably after Zen 3 is released AMD is gonna get lazy and start doing what Intel did, where they give 2% improvement YoY while they milk their lead, Intel will catch up, and in 10 years we'll be in the middle of another CPU war with the same things being said in reverse.

With a talk of second stimulus I'm gonna put mine away for a few months until the 3000 series graphics cards come out and Zen 3 comes out. Then I'm gonna build a bitchin computer for my wife and I. No stops. Gonna be like 32 core with a 3080 so I can be productive and dominate games at the same time. Until then.... I wait.

I don't think AMD is going to be lazy, they want Zen 4 to be on 5nm node on their roadmap. Although, I guess laziness could be in their architecture development. I feel bad for anyone who splurged on 2000 series, especially a 2080 TI. Never bee an early adopter of technology. Both DLSS ( until 2.0 ) and RTX was full on early adoption and more a proof of concept than a feasible thing for gamers. Anyone who waited for the 3000 series is getting the real thing. Thanks for beta testing that shit fools.

DLSS 2.0 is some crazy black magic. Digital Foundry recently did a tech analysis of Death Stranding that just released on PC and literally DLSS 1080 ---> 4k looks better than native 4k in almost all instances because there isn't a need for Temporal AA that causes loss of detail and some ghosting effect.

It is without a doubt the most important graphics technology in recent times. AI training da gawd. Gives you an equivalent graphical fidelity and sometimes better than native 4k while saving you anywhere from 30% to 40% of frames. I hope NVIDIA is not lying when they say that DLSS will not need much work on the part of the developers from version 2.0 and up so that we can game using that sweet sweet technology on almost all titles coming to PC.

Yeah I'm planning a Zen 3/3000 series build as well this fall/winter. I might buy a ps5 for the exclusives as well, unless I couple it with the my 2021 purchase of an dank ass OLED TV.
2022 will be the ddr5 purchase finally after a gazillion years. After that I'll be all set for the generation when it comes to tech entertainment.

Yeah I am also a believer in them, especially with Lisa Su I have followed closely.

I still think we are due for a major correction and will just hold this through and keep buying at drops
