Just because you personally use airbnb for a niche purpose, doesn't mean airbnb isn't in direct competition with hotels in other demographics.

Airbnb have a competitive advantage when it comes to big groups or places in the arse end of nowhere, which serves a fraction of the overall market. The point is, it's not a compelling case for the stock.

Hmm Airbnb business model has very high profit margin

You realize they dont own any of the properties so theyre not paying all the overhead fees/taxes like hotels do. Their liabilities incase there is a real estate crash is also minimal.

Its literally a software company that is pure profits

I literally don’t know a soul that looks for airbnb for 1-2day hotel/motel stays, US national median being 1.6-1.8 days average stay for a hotel

The data for average stay for airbnb is very murky and changes based on the city but national average is closer to 3-4 days

This is not just me that uses it for a niche purpose but a clear trend of overlapping but somewhat separate markets . A consumer is more likely to be intentionally searching for an Airbnb or a hotel. Not both and comparing rates. It isn’t surprising why airbnb and hotel stay prices have come closer together, nor surprising both are profitable enterprises

I have no position in any hotel or airbnb btw

I used to use Airbnb for hotel like stays since it used to be far more competitive and many of Canada's smaller cities like Kelowna were often sold out hotel wise and it filled the gap.

Now I never use it. Just won't consider going that week if there's no hotels. The absurde fees, the horror stories, etc. It's all put people like myself off from using them like that anymore. I've fully gone back to hotels for that type of travel, even for week long stuff.

Now for things with groups I still use them. Have a upcoming wedding, 6 of us are renting a cottage in the nearby area. Any horror story risk is spread among all of us and we're willing to eat a higher cost to get what a hotel in the area can't offer which is a location on the lake near the wedding venue.

My love for Airbnb as a user though has plummeted for North America. I still use it in other countries and likely will continue. I'm not a resort guy.

This really highlights the point

Depending on the trip you’re going on you’ve already decided if you’re going hotel route or airbnb route

I’m positioned for any outcome atm

Have so many covered calls out

Wouldn’t mind some strikes hitting and executing some of them for more cash

Also don’t mind buying back calls at a fraction

I’m chilling

Ive set my stop loss for my swing position (tqqq) but i have a feeling the market will get bullish

JP does not want to be the dude to tank the market pre-elections so he’ll be dovish af
