What investors are scared about isn't just whether other banks go bankrupt, but the extent to which the bond market crash and rising interest rates have unintended consequences we still don't fully understand. What losses still need to be shaken out: bond losses in LDIs? Cashflow issues in commercial property REITs? And so on

Yeah there are risks definitely and contagion effect due to sheer fear and speculation isn’t something to be ignored

Don’t all in but I think after a couple seasons finally have a buying opportunity

I do see this as a buying opportunity, but ex. US. They're still above their LT average even in this interest rate environment. It begs the question whether US outperformance vs global stocks will continue or not: 2022 was the first year in ages that the US underperformed

Emerging markets are very likely going to get better returns in the coming years compared to US. I think Europe will still continue to underperform imo since growth here is non-existent..

But with the debt ceiling in US, banks going busto, tech companies no longer getting free money to grow and the interest rate hikes, I think much slower growth in US market long term.

but yeah, I think emerging markets are likely the spots atm.

Having said that, there could be some interesting spots in US for companies doing silicon development because of the demand, but that's just one sector :(

growth is already non-existent since a good 10 years but people dont realize it yet because of magic money

energy use and economic growth are almost perfectly correlated since the start of industrial civilization

and it's not a bad thing honestly

I need to speak to Elon :D

Tesla needs to create a new financing product purposefully built for their energy loans.
1. Tesla would finance the deployment of batteries, panels, and solar roofs.
2. Tesla would underwrite these loans in a manner that once a loan is in default the system pushes all energy generated and stored back to the grid.
3. Energy sold to the grid is returned to Tesla/ABS.
4. Tesla packages these loans as an asset backed securitization w/ non-performing cash flow.
5. Tesla captures a rate differential and earns revenue on deployment.

Even if Tesla fanboys are right, Tesla has a huge market cap and growth is naturally slowing. If you picked up the stock before it shot up, then good on you, but will it appreciate at a rate higher than the market average from here? My guess is no

Canadian Bank ETF's are starting to look attractive as a result of the recent US banking failure.

Margin costs about 7% now on 100K borrowed but is tax-deductible, with a marginal tax rate of 45% thats a cost of about 3.9% while they yield around 4.2%, plus the eligible dividend tax credit after gross us resulting in dividends being taxed at a favourable 38%, making total margin cost around 1.3% on a Canadian bank.

Tempting.
