Wow. Musk officially backed out of Twitter deal and $tsla goes up

I don’t think he can simply back out at this point, I know there’s that billion dollar clause but pretty sure Twitter will sue

As a Tesla share holder I am happy with this though, pay whatever u have to and gtfo. Was so ambitious

I don't think musk is particularly brilliant.

Musk never wanted Twitter, not in it's current form. Backing out or continuing the deal both serve to move Musk closer to his end goal of a digital town square. Before deal, Twitter was already waning, and the information revealed through the botched deal has expedited this. It is a golden opportunity to standup a competing platform. Curious if he or another will pursue this with success while Twitters reputation is circling around in the toilet bowl.

You're really naive if you think musk actually cares about having a digital town square

This isn't some 4d chess move. This is Musk being very dumb, which is something he does often.

him selling his shares at $1,200 and saying it was for Twitter Deal seems like a smart move by him

Him selling is shares was smart. Wasting a billion of the proceeds on the twitter deal wasn't. Honestly it would have been a lot cheaper to just make a tweet saying "I'm thinking of starting a competitor to Twitter so we have a real town square and I'm liquidating some Tesla stock to do so!" and then if he did nothing ever he wouldn't have lost anything.

He cares about the survival of his companies and realizes having outreach to his people that is not through MSM or censored social platforms helps this aim. helps this objective For example, his Starlink customers were emailed a link to a site to automate advocacy for 12GHz frequency band in their dispute against DISH. His digital town square is for his own benefit, not the people.
