Question for everyone recommending investing in real estate - how would you recommend doing it? I know that real estate is a great investment if you can afford it, and I'd love to buy some in a growing area like Austin (just as the first example to come to mind), but I don't live anywhere near there and I don't have any experience as a landlord or anything. I'm assuming the answer would be to hire a property manager, but I don't know anything about doing that, either.

I can't imagine having enough cash to live very comfortably off passive investments, and instead choosing to pay for a job managing a real estate portfolio.

Fuck that sounds terrible. Way more risk, way more work.

100%. real estate investment is a good way to build wealth, and a terrible way to enjoy your wealth if you already have it.

just buy into a total stock market index. or better yet buy a shit load of bonds, then live off of the gains. you wont moon but you'll outpace inflation.

I'm sorry for your loss and hope you are doing ok.

Education is the only answer. If you are educated on the subject you can make it work with Bonds, Stock, real estate or owning a business.

If I had 3 million in my 30's I would go back to school to get a degree is business admin. Maybe even a master's degree. Then buy a business with 1.5 million. After 5 years my income would be 1.5 million or more and debt free.

To me it's always increase income.

On another note. How to maintain Wealth? Don't spend more than you make. Save %20 of what you earn. EZ PZ. If you can't save %20 then you need to cut expenses or increase income. I always increase income.

I am not a financial advisor and this is not financial advice.
