Uhhh no. Having fun is playing around with 50 bucks. People who want to make real money put in lots of money. The majority of penny stocks just fail. If you buy apple stock it wont fail. Granted, you can get owned when if the price drops. Risky is putting a grand into a penny stock with an 80% chance your gonna lose it.

The point of penny stocks isn't to hold onto it forever. You buy them one week when they're down and sell them when they go up.

Since they're much more volatile(in terms of %) than normal stocks, it's risky. But again, people do it.
