I own one due to living in a deep freeze where its actually appropriate and I only wear it on a skidoo. Any active movement will result in me sweating and dying.
If I am in the city I have no interest in big puffy down jackets. Give me something athletic or if its formal a peacoat.

It's for sure a status symbol.
The only people that I see wearing them are Chinese students and basic white girls. The low 20s is probably the lowest we get around western NY and most days in the winter it's around 30 degrees. Literally no reason to spend a grand on a Canada goose when you're outside for no more than like 5 minutes in a city.
