Damn I missed all the action. I heard about it a couple years ago and missed another boat... Finally got my hands on some and been trading learning the ropes. Only small amounts but I'm enjoying learning.
It's the best memecoin imo it's an actual joke but with solid tech and idea.
didn't miss boat, no worries lol, like said earlier about the mining being spanned and slowly diminishing over 50 years before tail emission (constant block reward) kicks in, is so that, anyone can just jumps in at any time without feeling like missed that boat or somethin
i mean, ofc if there's more and more miners on the network then would still be getting a lesser percentage by finding blocks less often
but by being on solo-mining only, it also kinda regulate itself by not having too much of a high nethash (the total mining power on the network at a given time) since most people wouldnt want to wait too long like months before finding a single block so it organically regulates itself down to average to a more reasonable amount of time to find a block

You ever heard of MEWC meow coin they donate part of every block to cat shelters.... I feel like once people hear about that it will pump and also they arw changing from kawpow to meowpaw or something g like that to make mining muh more energy efficient.
omg that is so adorable
havent heard of it tho, or maybe in passing and forgot about it
however that brings back some memories since it's a fork of ravencoin...
for ravencoin, been mining it literally at the very begining in january 2018, we used to say it was ninja mined by overstock, as in like there wasnt an announcement thread on bitcointalk and the overstock company knew of its launch so they rented a bunch of vps instances to mine all those early blocks for themselves
the mining algorithm at the time wasnt kawpow yet but X16 which was like a rotation of 16 existing algorithms but as a rotation so it was meant to be like "asic-resistant"
the asic-resistance goal been a tough fight those past years for many different coins but is an important aspect to prevent centralization and control of the network by asic manufacturers rather than allowing every joes and janes contribute to the network with general purpose hardware they arleady have (everyday computers while asics are specialized 1 task hardware that cant be repurposed for anything and then becoming e-waste when not efficients anymore)
so X16 started on CPU which allowed overstock and a few others that were aware of the launch to mine it from CPU (including with VPS instances), couple weeks later, devs that were in the community started to work on the GPU miner software, it was able to do like maybe 10 of those 16 algorithms from X16 so wasnt fully done yet but enough to be so much more faster than the CPU mining software for it, leaving those without GPU in the dirt, at the time it was the nivida 1050Ti, 1060, 1070, 1080 and 1080Ti that were mostly used for that, by mid january 2018 a single 1070 was able to find in average a whole 5,000 ravencoin block per day (which later jumped to $0.25 for each so that was nice profit even with a single GPU)
by february the nvidia mining software was completed, the amd gpu one came few weeks after and by that time there was already much more people on the network that the single 1070 that used to be getting 5000 per day now was getting maybe just a few hundreds per day in average
while the community at the time thought it was mined only on GPU, it was secretly mined by FPGAs, those aint quite like single purpose ASICs since they're fully programable for anything but they aint really easily accessible for the general public and were so much more efficient
so a few players that had access to those FPGAs (and software that wasnt public) were getting the majority of those mining rewards while the community on those GPUs were getting less and less while thinking it was just because of organic growth and more people on the network, but it wasnt
anyways, after awhile and that was uncovered, that's when discussions around algo change started, to keep being fair to everyday joes and janes that wanna mined with their gaming computer, and pretty sure asics were made for it as well at some point
so kawpow was made
tbh, the RVN case was an interesting learning experience on how shady things in the cryptosphere do happen, there were few instances...
- the overstock ninja mine at launch
- actually paid shills from a corporation acting as if they were just regular everyday community members
- malicious code that been pushed and merged into the github that introduced inflation bug and was left there for MONTHS for that 1 individual to mine millions worth for literally months by abusing that bug
it was thought to be an inside job and for a project that at one point was literally multi BILIONS market cap, there still wasnt enough eyes on the code to prevent that from happening (so let alone smaller projects with just a couple devs in those...)
- and months later, when that bug was finally caught, the "fix" was released through closed source binaries to the entities that mattered for the consensus to move to that next protocol update so pools, exchanges running nodes and such for the network to update to the next version
with closed source binaries, some malicious code could have been introduced as an attack vector directly to the ones that downloaded those
and afterward still didnt release reproducable binaries and soooo many people still downloaded those, trusting those....
anyways, all that aside, it was way before the NFT cringe train but the "asset layer" was kind of a precursor to that, it was introduced maybe a year later after launch to rvn
directly inside the wallet, could create assets so could say like creating "100 millions rvn_fg" (like d2jsp fg but on the rvn blockchain) and use those to trade d2 items
that was literally the example given in whitepaper as well, to trade in game items
but real world scenario it just ended up being just gimmicky pretty much... and people were receiving spam assets and all...
seems like MEWC inherited of the asset layer as well since it's a fork of it
an other coin was raptoreum that was very similar as well

Anyway im still reading this thread so many people have no clue what crypto actually is ive had people telling me trading tokens is real crupto and I will get scammed trading wow and meowcoin on TO but ive had no issues yet and have actually crypto in my wallet :)
yup lol, like, been using tradeogre back in 2019 and a bit later as well and it's still there
tho read some complaints recently about people having issues on some other coins, the thing is just to not keep any funds in literally any centralized exchanges, use it to exchange and then withdraw asap, whether it's TO or the mainstream ones so yea, having it in your wallet like u be doing is good thinking

check out MEWC and ZANO and give me your thought you know your shit and i have absolutely no clue complete noob
was planning to look into zano a bit, dev for it is in the video linked earlier with the proof of work vs proof of stake panel
he was saying that zano is like hybrid, more on the PoW side but hybrid type of thing so wanted to look into it

Do you know anywhere I could trade my services for crypto like making a game or graphics even odd jobs data annotation etc. I havent found anything yet.
yup,
https://moneromarket.io it's like ebay but can also do like services and whatnot, there's the services category for it:
