that's because you look at expensiveness as a directly comparable measure as opposed to an independent calculation

Costco announced a special dividend of $10 per share and price immediately jumped $10 AH. Question is will the price drop back after the dividend snapshot in December or will market see this as a sign of strength. I’m guessing there will be a quick sell after dividends are issued followed by more uptrend since it’s been doing well during covid.

vaccines soon may mean people are going to be standing in costco lines again, might be an interesting long-term play.

I haven't lived in civilization in a long time is Walmart / Walmart + a real long term competitor.

I'm looking at their most recent 8K filing right now

(in millions)

Net cash provided by operating activities 22,880
Operating income Ending Oct 31 (9 months) 17,061
Consolidated net income attributable to Walmart (9 months) 15,601
Trade payables & Inventory is essentially an offset.
14B cash on hand with only 4B of debt facilities being current.

They would appear to be a continually growing juggernaut.

Walmart+ is absolutely going to be a big thing at least in cities.

Time is at a premium for most families, so not having to shop and only pay a few bucks extra to get it delivered will be super appealing.

Does Amazon offer a comparable service? Like I said, stupid questions but I haven't been in a place where I can get free shipping or any sort of service in years.

Google is what I have. I see Amazon, same day grocery and food but the selection looks awful and nothing fresh.

Well America has a piss poor median household income and crushing student loan debt. This generation has to work more just to make ends meet and with increasing competition in the labour market the expectation will continually shift to you being expected to work 10+ hours a day meaning people will value convenience more as you said. If Walmart can remain a cost leader, has a current concrete financial position and future prospects in the Ecom world I could see it as a long term hold.
