There needs to be a law that bans unrelated riders in bills, but neither party is willing to forego the ability to inject shit into bills like this.

Hell, Mark Meadows proposed a Constitutional Amendment to this effect, but it hasn't gained any traction, that I've seen.

It's questionable how that would even be enforced. Just add language to the end of every bill that goes something like in addition to various funding as proposed by members

riders in general should be eliminated. every measure of a bill should need an individual vote, then an end vote if enough of the individual measures have been approved to vote the package into law.

i get that we can't literally ala cart laws, because policy is more complex than that, but riders are awful. the process is ripe for gridlock.
