bonds have risk too. There is risk wherever you place your money whether it is under your bed (theft), the bank (inflation), bonds (defaulting, inflation, rise in interest rates, etc...), and of course stock (deterioration of underlying company). Without risk there is no return and the beauty of investing in the stock market is that it opens your money up to a wider range of possibilities where you are able to adjust your risk to a satisfactory level.
