Yes, and the rule of thumb for the credit is to only open no more than 2 lines of credit every 6 months and no more than 5 lines every 2 years. I'm currently up to 16 credit cards and it does seem a little ridiculous.
Not sure about the WF card. I haven't been able to trust them since they did that since they did all that shady stuff about 10 years ago or so.
Great additional advice as well! To me, I just went for the most straightforward 2% card on every purchase available. I know there are others - I used to have the Citi Double Cash, but they were less than honest with me about how an intro rewards program worked once when I branched out into another card with them. I fought hard and they were going to reverse it in the end, but, I chose to close my accounts instead on principle.
Sometimes I think it honestly comes down to personal experience - I just never had a problem with WF, its 2% and pretty straightforward so I just stick with that for simplicity as my "daily driver" when it's not an appropriate time to try and cash in on a reward intro offer card
