Moving your assets to a safe heaven like gold isn't to make a profit or expecting market movers or moon goals. It's there to protect yourself from volatility and price swings. You want to be move your liquid to something stable when the future isn't clear and easy to read.

yea i get what u saying with that
I guess in a way i havent had any volatility issue since the internet money i been using is actually being used for goods and services so it makes it both a medium of exchange as well as being a great store of value with very little short term volatility

those daytraders be having troubles to sleep at night if their portfolio goes all volatile and shit overnight
meanwhile am having the best of the sleeps for years cause volatility literally been a nonissue

Monero
  • buying groceries with it (giftcards) for grocery stores inside cake wallet app
  • electronics (including phone) from shopinbit
  • everything from amazon (giftcards)
  • internet phone data through silentlink
  • planes / hotels through travala
  • takeouts from ubereats & justeats (giftcards)

mostly amazon tbh, lot and lot of amazon x)
like the whole solar setup from amazon
still have an electric bill tho cause sadly in these day and age gotta have recent electric bill to prove that u human or some shit so just paying it in cash at the post office (monero -> cash by mail through haveno-reto/retoswap, it's peer to peer)

oh and for videogaming v-rising when it released (steam giftcard), D2R cdkeys, WoW classic HC subscription (battlenet giftcard)

When mentioning it's a medium of exchange, mostly referring to the actual P2P circular economy that it has going for it as nowadays bitcoin isnt used for that since now it's a redflag (honeypot) if someone doesnt accept monero but accepting bitcoin in those other specific P2P markets, which am obviously not promoting but it's a reality that bitcoin failed at being P2P digital cash while monero been thriving and can just live off of it through the fully legal markets side of things with it

Bro monero had a 30% drop when binance delisted it. If a major index has even a fraction of that (4% or more) its considered a violent move. Saying crypto is safer to volatility is nonsense

and the price reported wasnt real because binance is a criminal entity reporting fake numbers
If u use it day to day to get paid with / spend it on goods and services, price movements are pretty much irrelevant and the street price (real price) has a different value than what "binance" been reporting

u trynna compare it to a stock or whatever that doesnt have real world use, when u get paid in and spend cash in $usd, u dont look at the charts of usd / eur or whatever, u just use it, that's the same
am not talking in hypotheticals, real world scenario that's how it is for anyone that use it as actual currency, the price movements are irrelevant due to it's usecase of being actual currency

I agree with you about binance, that it has an oversized valuation on the crypto market.
But to say stocks have a no use case is silly. It takes on average three days to sell a stock and transfer it into your bank account. Then it is in real world currency and you can basically spend it on anything.

It's not just stock brokers that take 3 days but also coinbase. Say I were to transfer btc, or eth to coinbase it would still take 3 days to transfer to a bank account. I think that's pretty reasonable. The problem with crypto is that its hard to spend on real money assets. U mention Amazon gift cards but if you needed to go to a grocery store I doubt they would take crypto. So yeah its worth the wait when you take into account the real world applications.

coinbase are as trash as binance, havent u read their updated ToS from few years ago already? allowing themselves to steal customers money in case of bankruptcy

but if you needed to go to a grocery store I doubt they would take crypto. So yeah its worth the wait when you take into account the real world applications.

Funny timing, they starting to accept it natively
been doing crypto -> giftcards until now to buy groceries, but now:

In brief

  • Spar supermarkets are expanding Bitcoin Monero payments across Switzerland after testing the system in two initial locations.
  • Shoppers will pay at checkout using QR codes powered by DFX Swiss’s OpenCryptoPay platform.
  • The rollout marks one of Switzerland’s first major retail adoptions of Bitcoin Monero for everyday purchases.

Which SPAR is a pretty big supermarket chain being literally worldwide in 48 whole countries around the world

They using the DFX thingy which been having Monero support and been integrated in cake wallet for awhile already as can be seen on that january 2024 post:

$XMR spiked 40% after news broke that SPAR supermarkets in Switzerland are accepting it 🪙

From cold wallets to cold cuts — the future is now.

(well, the price change those past few hours probably wasnt related but to the 3500 btc thing but still, u get the point, can buy groceries with it natively now too)

Using crypto and the afore methods mentioned above must have some sort of fees doesn't it? Also wouldn't you still have to pay taxes on whatever you buy? What are the tax rules and reporting for end of year taxes be like? I think using crypto to pay for something would be to someone in exchange where you want it to be private. For example pay someone to do something in crypto without having to meet them in person or with a paper trail/digital footprint.
