Thinking about jumpstarting myself by investing some amount of fg first. What would be the best way to do it? How long would it take to repay itself? Any help is appreciated.

just get someone to craft you starter items , they cost nothing .
then invest gold / mats for upping your items and you will be good to go :).

Super simple version?

Get in the game, start go to the Elethor Wiki and start following the guides.

Once you are able to start killing Unseen Horrors, stay on them and just keep selling their materials and/or making Platinum and selling the Platinum itself. Sell all of your Ore from Mining (which happens at the same time).

Just from those two things, you can make a decent amount of gold per day on the game and sell it for fg.

Invest in your character only what you need to in order to keep max killing Unseen Horrors.

At some point, if you wish to invest more and you reach level 145, then you can invest into T9 gear and move up to Filchers which are much better for Platinum than Unseen Horrors.

Can I just buy the gear needed to farm Unseen Horrors with fg and start gaining gold immediately? What I understand is masteries are very important, but other than that is there anything keeping me from buying off the gear requirements instead of farming for quite some time? no you won't be able to immediately farm Unseen Horrors, but some gold will go a long way in expediting the process. I have been playing since Sunday and I can't farm Unseen Horrors yet, but I'll get there in a couple of days. I expect it will take you approximately 7-10 days to be able to farm unseen horrors. The sooner you start the sooner you'll reach that point

why unseen horror specifically?

The game has a system called Companions. These are very, very important for player advancement and they require a material called Platinum. The Platinum is gained through exchanging monster materials in the Recyclobot.

Unseen Horrors have a very high drop rate of monster materials and are an early-game monster. They are easily the best income in the game because of this until you are in T8/T9 gear killing Filchers. And, since they are an early game monster, they require very little investment to max kill them. Which makes them an ideal target if your goal is just to earn forum gold with as little time/investment as possible.
