The best one I have played is Annihilus.net
They essentially combined d1,d2 and d3 bosses into one game, along with some additional content that isn’t apart of those 3 games. Instead of a map system, they have the randomized progression similar to the rifts in d3
It has recently been less popular and community size has dwindled (like all mods). They also split their servers into 2 seperate communities. One of which is what I’m talking about above, and the second is a new mod they are developing which is more based around path of exile. It was not well received and is a major reason of the loss in community. The first version they created, and still have, is excellent.
From what I have seen, all the recent mod have been basing their general premise around turning d2 into path of exile. And my take is, if you want path of exile style, go play path of exile. It will be vastly better than someone trying to recreate d2 in the image of path of exile.
