To join the private realm, no download are required. Just use your legit diablo 2 installs

How to join :
Click Other Multiplayer
Click TCP/IP
Enter d2ga.net
Create a character of your selection (Notes : Sometime specific names can be registered, and server might not let you uses them.) so simply choose another in that case.

When you join the game, there will be modified town outpost, if you take the kurast dock red portal. All npc's have perfect stuff to equip your new characters, everything is free.

To set your character to level 99 and get all skill quests / resistance scrolls / stats bonus
Simply type .setlevel 99

To see the games active, while in game. Just type .games
To join another game where active players are, simply type .join said gamename

Game has been upgraded to accept 30+ players (rather than 8 max)

You can use your own single player characters, notes : If any of your characters contains edited gears that is not legit, you will be redirected to (The Void), you might encounter other hacker like dopplezon smiters ect in there. If you use legit characters to join you will be redirected in (The Arena)
