median xl is 100% worth playing. .and its nothing like diablo 3.

It's also pretty far from diablo 2 as well, and the difficulty is high. Same mechanics and very addicting.

I've leveled a couple of different characters (always different builds). I can say that this is really a different game, but it builds on some core principles of Diablo 2.

I've always felt like it is the game that Diablo 3 should have been. Here and there it's rough around the edges, but overall it's an absolute top tier mod.

Think of median as an expansion to d2. Remove all the useless areas and replace them with dungeons, and the crafting system is much much more thorough to the point where getting a godly weapon means you have spent years reading /cubing. The endgame is rediculously hard to reach whereas d2 once you kill the UBRS game over. That being said the skills are way different, some spells are cooler than d2, some are lame.

you will see many people shit on median because the difficulty isn't just for them, so they will prefer pd2 or such which are mods for noobs imo
hands down the best mod but the drop rates + few dungeons will make you cry

Since this got necro’d, Median XL 2.0 is a masterpiece. If you haven’t tried it because it’s different, you’re being ignorant. My opinion is that Median is night and day a better game than vanilla but it doesn’t have PvP — strictly a very fun and challenging PvM experience.

I returned to Diablo for pvp and new graphics but the game experience from walking through norm-hell, the abysmal drop rates, and the stale repeated farming is mind numbing and extremely boring. I’m committed to finishing my pvp chars otherwise I’d have quit already. Lots of nostalgia for sure but it’s just not optimized.

It’s a shame Median XL will likely never be playable on Resurrected graphics or it would be mindblowingly successful

Edit: Median is not some D3 “everything gg drops in an hour” either but you don’t have to do 5,000 trav runs for a hr. Drops are healthier and the farming activities both make more sense and are more rewarding. There’s zones that have drop biases for certain things such as uniques or sets that you can target farm and they’re less repetitive
