Pd2 is the best D2 experience right now. A lot of purists don’t want to admit it, but PD2 is miles ahead. Meanwhile, in classic D2, a huge portion of builds and uniques are basically useless. It’s comically bad. That’s fine—they can keep being in denial and doing their 1,000,000th Baal/TZ runs.
A lot of the popular D2 streamers won’t touch it because they know it will hurt their bottom line.
PD2:
Most uniques are actually viable
Expanded merc inventory (boots, belt, and gloves)
Rares are best-in-slot in many cases (especially this season)
Crafting feels impactful and rewarding
Melee has splash damage
Rare/unique quivers make bow builds viable
Chance to proc *skill buffed (instead of chance to proc level 3 skills, it’s like level 32, etc.)
Removed a lot of useless affixes/suffixes
New endgame bosses
New endgame mapping system
New endgame chase items
Expanded inventory (same charm slots, but you have more room for picked-up items)
Nearly all builds are viable
Added skills
Pre-buffing in town
Buff timers
Dedicated trading site
Active, honest community (you can drop trade)
No botting issues
Active moderation and dev support
The only negative is builds can get extremely powerful, and power creep is a thing. However, this season introduced a lot of nerfs, so we’ll see.
And yeah, someone will bring up D2R graphics—“BUT D2R GWAFIKS.” The graphics are very much updated from original D2. It looks great for what it is (widescreen support).
