look up a guide either start with youtube or just go straight to the poe forums. and search builds for witchs, there is lots of different types of shit you can do with a witch. once you find something you think you will like to play say for example you wanna be a summoner. look at all the summoner guides and different skills and choose one that best fits you and follow that guide the best you can. other wise you will end up in like act 10 or tier 1-2 maps and just have winged it to get there and you will have to spend currency reforming and redoing your entire character to make it viable for any end game content you wish to try.
buying just "witch gear" is just a bad idea in my opinion anyhow you will just wind up with a ton of crap you never needed.
Tabula rasa simple robe is a 6 link white armor with no stats. buying this will most likely be very useful to you and its roughly 15-20 chaos or so on the in game MP. there is several other low level unique items i cant remember the name of, google around though im sure they are not hard to find with a few key words in google.
