I know there might already be F3 threads out there but...
I need some opinions whether to buy or not, and I have some concerns.

The thing is: I did not like Bethesda's last RPG - Oblivion - too much. It
was mainly the level scaling and the "hundreds of dungeons" which all
looked similar to identical. Even if on a high level, this game was disappointment.

And I just fear Beth made the same mistakes again.
I read about level scaling (even though they modified it afaik), and I read about
boring dungeons.

So: how bad is it? Would anyone who disliked TES4 as much as I did recommend
me to buy F3 with a good concience? Or is it just a post-nuclear Oblivion?

And what about the violence? I heard there's pretty much splatter in the uncut
version (I live in germany so I'd have to import due to our #@!%* laws). Is it
too much? Just right? Essential for the game?

fo3 is just awsome..hands down best game this year imo.

i was addicted to falout back in 97 but this is just so much better
you literraly have miles and miles of land to explore (set in washington dc) on a real time level

what makes this game great is it adds the action of a first person shooter and the elements of character custimization into one game..and you can slow down the combat and take precision shots to wound enemys (take out a leg or arm or just try and get a head shot? choice is yours)

i played this at a friend shouse and ended up buying it on the way home..a few hours into it now and i can already see the replay factor isnt gonna be a problem...so much you can custimize

it's great, watch some gameplay videos, or video reviews.

it's not exactly the good old fallout you remember, but that doesn't mean it's bad, it's worth buying!

i pirated it and later i went and bought it, i don't usually do that tongue.gif

Thank you guys for your replies (he, that rhymes^^)
Any statements on the dungeons and the level scaling particularly?

Anyway, I've ordered the game yesterday, should arrive within a few days.
Just wanted to know what will expect me.
To keep the disappointment small.

P.S.: I must admit I've never played the old Fallouts, I rather played
jump n' runs on my gameboy those days^^

Dude, Fallout 3 is the game of the year. For fucking sure lol

I downloaded it and I'm going to buy it just to support them IMO!

See, it's quite a lot like Oblivion engine wise. Some hotkeys are even the same, like "wait" option is on T like Oblivion...

Though what you think about the level system is totally wrong. See you don't have to sleep to gain a level (which was pretty gay in oblivion when you had a big quest)
It's simply Post apocalyptica
You do what you can to survive whether it is about checking trash cans, murdering people or helping them and the game will build around what you do and you will lvl for what you do best (like if you love sneaking and picking lock ors disarming traps, pick them up and sell them like me xD). The VATS system is unique for the game and it doesn't get old

I'm not some kiddo who thinks "wow nice graphics = nice game"

Like I said, it's a fucking unique game, though it's not like fallout 1 or 2 (I was a huge fan of them)

I think you got me wrong, I was talking about the level scaling, i.e. the enemies
always being the same level as you. That really ruined Oblivion.

But after all you guys said I'd really like to play it.
And I got it right here beside me.
I just have to wait for my CPU -.-

no, go to the wrong place and you'll have no chance. it requires that you won't play on "easiest" though of course
