Personally I have never concerned myself of the defense of the armor, only the base strength requirement.
breast plate (30 strength required) is typically what I use or
light plate (41 str) mage plate (55 str)
all are considered light armors so they do not cause any run/walk penalty.
If you are concerned over 200 defense mattering for your character you may wish to review your entire build
