300 is indeed the "max" for t3, but if you fought monsters while you have magic luck, you have a chance to get an "overspawn" on an item. This overspawn is capable of reaching the max for three next item tier (in this case, 400 life for t4). It is somewhat rare, but you will seem them more on lower tier items. There is even a thread where people post their overspawn items in.

I could let go of these ones for 20fg each
