Well from my opinion you should make levels as much as you can and when its frenzy, double you should harvest something !
Make only 1 resource and trade it 1:1 for other resorces and the leveling !

You should use the Platinum for Training center and fame for buy Platinum for Training to !
Train for XP + One of the resources you will go for harvest !

Interesting idea on the harvesting with double time, I'll start doing that thank you.
Do you have any specific recommendations for which permanent boost I apply my platinum to?

So I spent all of my platinum and gold on upgrading my base damage and base armor

I would not invest in +resource boost if you are going to battle primarily.

I'm thinking about cutting harvesting as a whole, because if I spend more time battling can't I just make the gold to buy the resources anywho?

I'd invest in crystal boosts + some base damage/base armour. If you're not currently in a clan sell that plat and use it to make your character better.
