That depends on what you want to do really. :P

You can be a battler and focus on fighting mobs. (You'll want to invest in Quest boost / exp boost)
The higher the mob, the (slightly) more exp and gold you gain.

You can be a harvester and harvest 1 of 4 resources to sell for gold.
Unfortunately, you don't progress at all as a harvester because you don't gain gold / exp. Only resource and exp in harvesting.

You can be a crafter or carver but that requires a lot of gold to fund the materials used to craft.

I highly suggest you join a (somewhat) established clan to help out.
There are tons of benefits, including Clan buildings that (depending on how many buildings were purchased) can be a huge boost in your personal stats.

Use the Fame to help boost your character and don't be afraid to ask questions in Main. :)

Quest boost = Reduces the requirements for completing a quest (100% makes them twice as fast, 200% makes them three times as fast, etc)
That means the higher your quest boost, the lower the requirements and the faster you complete it.
The more quests you do, the more your rewards are in plat and gold. Crystal reward is random and sometimes you get stat rewards too.

In terms of item, look for refined and + items on the Market. With the introduction of crafting, we now have up to Relic items (the best in stats) and can even socket gems into them.

You can get gems by either purchasing them on the market, or carving them yourself.
However, if you carve them yourself, you need Gem fragments (found through drops or deconstructing existing gems).

In general, you can be most efficient if you specialized on as few things as possible.
Doing actions you level up in the particular field and further actions become more meaningful.

That said,

1) crafting and craving are very expensive to level. You need costly mats to do so and there won't be much (any) profit until you reach a high level. Also you need a house to have access to it. Nothing you want to start with and never the only thing to do.
2) harvesting (pick either resoruce) has BY FAR the biggest value per action. even as you level over time, this gap (compared to gold drops in battle) widens
3) battle is the core of the game. the direct returns are rather small but some boni (e.g. for completng the capture) grow with battle and higher level items and gems possibly give a bonus to everything (crafting, harvesting, etc). also further content may be made for battlers

Quest are important in general and a big source of income. especially for battlers but also very nice additions for harvester. always make sure to have a quest. rewards do only depend on luck and the the number of quest you're doing. later quests take longer but give bigger rewards. how hard the mobs you're fighting are, is irrelevant.

A decent start (that worked for me) is to fight until you can get your first tool and then to harvest for, say, a week to accumulate some wealth. At the same time you get stats and become much stronger - without leveling. Then, switch to battle (or decide to stay a harvester and maybe add crafting or carving to the mix). If you go for battle, try to get some of the p2win crystal boosts (quests, trading, etc can get you a decent amount of crystals, $ (or fg) will get you much more, of course). With the harvesting you did previously you should have a decent amount of money and fame.
An alternative is to do battle only and always 1000 harvests per day. This is a pretty efficient way to gain fame and make at least some money while leveling up.

Fame (reward for reaching milestones) is a very powerful access to lots of plat (and gold). plat is better than gold, the others are absolutely not worth it. Fame currency cannot be used on the market or send to players. you can use it to donate in your clan or to use it in the training center.

The training center is important. Take care, though. Early in the game base powers (absolute values) are already very powerful but the stuff bought for plat (percentual increases) barely does anything. especially toughness (% armor) is incredibly bad early on. you can pay hundres and thousands of plat to gain 2-3 armor - something you get with good items or thorugh the base power for a fraction of the cost. The other plat boosts are not as bad but still - better sell your early plat and use gold to get base powers. boost plat training later on.

Doesn't really matter as long as your kill/death ratio is above 95%. I personally like to keep mine over 99.8% because every time you die, you lose that action.

first of all, you want to maximize exp gain. therefore you have to compare you win chance (use the reset button at battle stats when switching mobs) with the different xp levels of other mobs. in the beginning, it is often a good idea to aim for about 95% win chance because the exp differences are rather big. at areas two and three (i'm only 45 and don't know too much about area 4), the differences are rather small and most players only go to higher mobs when their win rate is around 99.5% already.

secondly, some mobs drop valuable ingredients. currently animal wings > plant branches > rest. not sure if tree guarding drops branches but if he does, there's no harm to stay there for several days and many, many quests. especially since areas 2 and 3 ingredients are not worth much because most players are fighting there atm

with 100% over more than 7k kills, you should advance. you can probably fight mobs that are several levels higher and give 15% more exp while only dropping to ~99% winrate
