I need the Huren ring, google informs me it's in the misty woods, i am currently at the talus garrison and i cannot find how to travel south to get to the misty woods...

hes right by the watchtower, look at map shows world bosses, if your not in misty woods yet just keep following quest line

im not in the misty woods yet, figured there must be an easy way to get there that ive missed

You need to follow the main story, and you'll get there.
