I’d recommend redirecting the user to General Help here if he has issues displaying avatars & signatures especially if you’re unsure about the link.

If you are suspicious of a link, do not click it and always run a VT scan here - https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/url

If the scan turns out with malicious signatures, you can fwrd the PM to a senior mod for further investigation.

and paste a direct link to the image, meaning one that ends with an image extension such as .jpg, .png etc, you may upload your images to http://www.imgur.com or other alternative sites.
