Third party routers are amazing because the one from your ISP are mediocre at best and very barebones.
NAT, Port forwarding, etc. are solely the operating case of the router, so your ISP doesn't even matter. This would not be the case with for example Dual Stack, which your ISP has to provide to you.
So yes, buy a great router and use it !
Wish WiFi 7 was out already, but for now, we have to make do with WiFi 6(E).
