Hello I recently sold a package, I sold to the highest posting bidder in the thread, however I have not received a reply for a couple hours now. I have others asking me if the user with the highest bid showed up or not and to let them know if he doesn't. I am just wondering how long the general user-base would wait before moving down the list to the next highest bidder? Ya know, what is an acceptable/reasonable time to wait before honoring other users' bids. Not looking to alienate anyone and I want to follow site rules but I also don't want to wait forever while essentially keeping other bidders strung along, know what I mean? Anyway let me know your thoughts please. Thank you. :)

Depends on the item
If its some general stuff like runes just sell it,dont bother waiting
If it is something special like some crafted amulet then just wait and sell to the person who pays more

Just depends on how courteous you want to be. If it's obviously night in their timezone and they haven't been online in a while, I would hold the item until they have a chance to wake up and see it.

Otherwise, a few hours is more than enough for you to move on, especially if there was a clear end time posted. In that case I would feel fine moving on after 15 mins.

You are in your right to sell it to the other user.
He knew it was 4pm cst.

I would personally have waited for him though.

Hi there,

There is no violation in site rules when it comes to choosing who to sell or buy your items from. Although it is bad manner in some instances, it is not a violation of rules to sell to whom you’d like. Furthermore, a good rule of thumb is to wait for only the amount of time you’d like so as not to cause an inconvenience to your trades/schedule.

Hope this insight helps.

I am waiting, for now. I feel that because it is a large sale I should give him some slack. On the other hand because it was such a huge sale it was kinda hard to find a buyer and I don't want to lose the interest of the other bidders as I may then be completely unable to complete the sale if the user with the highest bidder doesn't come through. Idk perhaps I'll wait a bit more. Thank you for the advice.

I don’t know if this is the case here. But if the users that you are willing to trade with is afk and has been for several hours, it could be something irl.
Let him/her know that you are willing to the trade your items for their offer and a reply will be nice when they get online again

Hi ,

That is entirely up to you as there are no official rules nor community standards to govern how long you should wait for a user to respond until you sell to another user or retract a bid/bin if a buyer.

However if you're urgently needing to trade or the user has been unresponsive for quite a while then you may at least send them a PM and notify them that you'll be selling the item or retracting a bid if the other trader does not respond promptly or in a specified amount of time, just as an act of courtesy.

Peace.
