Threads are generally only closed in specific situations rather than as part of a routine process. In most cases, they are left open and will naturally lose activity over time.

To maintain the ability to edit the first post, it’s a good idea to update it every few days.

For trade topics, the first post is editable for up to 3 days (5 days for site customers and up to 7 days for verified users). Any edit made within this period refreshes the timer, which helps preserve editing access.

For regular posts, the editing window is significantly shorter — 30 minutes by default, 1 hour for customers, and 2 hours for verified users.
