Is it against the rules to have a sale listing where it's almost like a lottery or chance to get something like a mystery box or something where you get a chance to win something extra anything like that

0 I'm just curious as far as what the moderators would think or what the rules exactly would be interpreted as on that topic..

Usually it’s not great to sell something that isn’t specifically explained what it is (ie: mystery items) because there have been several scammer accusation posts complaining about said mystery items not being worth what the buyers expectation is.

Idk if it's necessarily against the rules to do a "blind auction" or mystery pack 🤔 but you'd have to trust the seller for sure to avoid people feeling like they got played and the items aren't worth what they paid for .. most of the time people just list the items out to avoid any miscommunication.. you gotta know the prices of everything or do what I do and just donate and hook people up for free from time to time

Pretty sure I've seen posts where if you bin something you get entered into a lottery of everyone who purchased something for a chance to win something potentially.

I've also seen people sell unid torch or anni and buyers make a guess at what it is. if they correctly guess the correct one, they win a prize.

Sometimes around holidays people have giveaways too. You can usually see it pinned at the top of the threads posted by mods.

Basically, if it's just a chance at an extra free item, I don't think there is a big issue with it. If people are paying solely for a chance at an item like a lottery, then I think there is an issue.

As far as site and trading rules go, I feel like a "mystery box" would be against trade rules as it doesn't specify what is actually being sold and/or raffled off.

Be specific in your trades. List everything that is for sale, especially in packages, with as much detail as possible. Unlimited quantity sales are not allowed.

Like VentiRAT said, you open yourself up to scammer accusations. Specifically from users that may feel like your lottery was staged, or misrepresented. You could essentially charge users 5fg for entry, and be raffling off something completely useless or not even worth the entry fee.

If you want an honest answer from a staff member, I would recommend sending a PM to one with your questions in detail of how you plan to execute something like this and get an honest and informative take on it.
