Is it possible to use the same headset for input/output in discord.

Long story short, my wife picked me up a new headset for the holidays (Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless).
My previous headset (also Sennheiser) had your typical microphone arm on the right side you can swing down/up to use or mute the microphone.

New headset has the microphone built-in to the headset, so therefor, there is nothing I can move/adjust farther from my mouth, etc.

When I am playing a game with discord closed the clarity/sound is A++ quality.
But, when I am playing a game with discord open, in-game audio is completely distorted to the point I cannot even play.

Doing some self-diagnostics, I noticed in the discord audio settings I get a yellow message which pops up alerting me that using the same input/output device can disrupt the audio.

Is there a way around this, or am I now stuck in the position where I will need to buy a standalone microphone to play and talk?
TIA for all help!

Well maybe you should uncheck the handsfree mode

Windows steps:
Control Panel --> Devices and Printers
Right-click Momentum 4 --> Properties
Go to Services tab
Uncheck:
Handsfree Telephony
Click Apply -->OK
Restart Discord

are the sennhaisers same model?

It is possible discord to have bugs with voice input usually,but try to remove device from old ones and install the new ones and try again.

Completely different model, and they were also wired.
I'm assuming I am going to need to buy a standalone mic, I just wasn't sure if anyone experienced the same issues or might have a work-around.

I made sure I am using the most up-to-date drivers and have removed the previous audio options.

Will look into this, tyvm

you could also try downloading voicemeeter banana or something like that and just routing your input and output devices through that. not sure why discord cares if you use the same device for input and output.
