I have a question about damage reduction in D2R. How does it work?

In my character stats, I have 3 different reductions: physical (calculated as a percentage) and magic (calculated in points), but how does this relate to the overall damage reduction (calculated in points)? How do I calculate the actual physical and magical reduction ?

Damage reduction 37pkt
Damage Magical by 38pkt
Damage Physical 36%
