Is there a possible way to limit how many friends can be shown in your profile to the public?

You can limit the number of friends shown, but as long as there are any users on your friends list, the minimum shown is one user. The only way to prevent the friends list from showing on your profile is by removing all friends.

The number of friend slots shown can be set by clicking the pencil icon in the top left corner of your screen:
