Okay so I am having an issue with my monitors when they go to sleep.

I recently added a third monitor to my setup and it is my far left monitor in a vertical (portrait) position.

Ever since adding it, anytime the pc goes to sleep, when I log back into it, is smashes everything to the vertical monitor. Like all my d2 windows, discord, firefox, etc.

How can I keep the open programs locked in the positions they were when the pc went to sleep? Or in other words, how to stop them from moving randomly to the far left monitor?

One fix that you might not be looking for but might still work is to not let your PC go to sleep.

Not actually sure if it needs to. I've been letting my PC run 24/7 for years ever since I've had it. Only time it shuts off is when it's updating and needs to restart, or if I'm moving.

Yeah, I leave it on more than I should sometimes. I think it is unhealthy and rough on the pc lifespan, so I want it to sleep.

I think I found a solution with a program called PersistentWindows

I’ve had this issue before.

What fixed it for me was making sure which ones are number like 3 2 1 or 1 2 3 etc whatever the orientation is for your main monitor and set that one as primary.

I assume the default is monitor 1 is center, 2 and 3 are either left or right side.

Then the next thing to make sure is which plugs they are plugged into on your graphics card.

Mines has like hdmi, display port, display port, display port.

Each one of my display ports are labeled in a manual somewhere 1, 2, 3 and they are the natural input or display order.

Depending on how yours are all plugged into, when all 3 monitors go to sleep if let’s say your furthest plug is coincidentally plug #1 it keeps booting up windows on that one from sleep.

Just unplug and change the order behind your pc.
