that part of the perk has always worked for everyone even though it says it's for customers only; it's why I stopped getting verified because that was the only thing I got it for in the first place.

It's because you have DF. Not everyone gets the perk.

according to this being in the DF has nothing to do with it

I'm aware it's not up to date, but if you have DF you have the feature "permanently" unless you manage to lose DF access.
