Problem: User can't post in any discord created by me. I tested by creating a new server and he can't post in that one also. User also for some reason can't see any emojies on any server. He can type and post in other discords. User can type in the chat box in my discord however when he hits enter, nothing is put into the channel.


Tested:
-Reinstalled discord app, updated, relogged in etc.
-Gave him admin role, every role possible, no role, nothing worked
-checked and unchecked all sorts of settings in configurations with him across the board



Possible causes?:
-Is it a setting of some sort, possibly a child protection setting?
-Reinstalling did nothing so could it be an outdated android version of phone?
-Some sort of internet synch issue with the discord server origin and the user?
-My server has some setting that is different from others that needs to be turned off or turned on?


Has this happened to anyone else? I've had this happen to people before and I'm not sure what causes it.

Has he tried making another account and seeing what happens on that one?

At least then you'd know it has to do with his account and not devices.

edit: the emoji thing def sounds like a setting is turned off to not show any emojis. Also, I see that there is a Family Center thing. Maybe there is a setting there that is stopping him from Communicating with certain people maybe by age or something?

Also have him go under Privacy and Safety and check his account status under Standing. He might have some account limitations.

No, that's an idea. I could also try making another account and see if it has somethign to do with my particular interaction with him or something with regions, computers id,.

The emojie setting he has on and still cant see them and his discord version is up to date.

Yeah I've hunted for this type of setting but just cant find it or anything that qualifies and I've played around a decent bit with it. Was hoping someone else had a similar issue at some point and knows the solution. THis is a reddit type attempt almost haha.

The standing thing he's good to go as well.

Hmm. Okay. Yeah Unfortunately I've never had any real issue with discord before (might just be cause I don't use it as much as some others)

I'd say both you trying to make new accounts and seeing how that goes is a good idea. Could also be a region thing too like you said. If he's in a certain country, maybe a VPN thing, something blocking access to servers located somewhere specific. No idea if that's even a thing though but wouldn't surprise me.

Hopefully someone else can be of better help.

Will have to look into that when we both can. It's hard to get people on board and to keep poking and proding and ask them to do too much. I'll see what I can do but it'll probably take days. Hoping I can get more info on it so we can dwindle down the possiblities thanks

Seems several other people have similar issues where they can see channels but cant post or some variation of that even if they have the proper roles to see the channels and post in them. Hmmmm

MIght not be the same problem for everyone but I sure hope it is.


This one particular user with the biggest limitations says he uses a 2018 samsung note 9. Maybe it's a question of just an outdated phone that is no longer supported and is obsolete?

I believe we have a member that cannot see polls despite using different phones & platforms for Discord. Did you direct them to make a ticket with Discord to check it out? Might be a weird bug on Discords end affecting select users

That's a good idea. I will suggest it but at this point if there isn't a clear cut answer that doesn't fix the problem, the person will probably not want to invest any more time into fixing it. We've pretty much given up bhaha . I shall do it for now and see what happens.
