I understand that there is a block option, but why is the only option to block someone instead of actually being able to report this kind of abuse? Instead of multiple people that have to block this individual just because they have a different view than them, how about a report button so they can be muted from abusing others?

Because the block function is more effective than a report function,

if you block a user they'll never be able to send you a PM again unless you unblock them.
