My friend registered a new account and didn’t set gold password.
Now when he is trying to log in he is asked to enter the main password and also the gold password which he never set.
How can he log in? What is the gold password for
New accounts?

Hey, I'd recommend him checking e.g his iPhone key chain (or similar tools in case a different product was used for registering) for passwords that may have automatically been put in.

Also could your friend log in at one point or is this about his first initial log in?

He created the account logged out at some point, tried to
login and had to enter gold password without setting one

If your friend can't login I'd suggest going through with a password recovery.
