So I have my gaming PC that I've assembled many many years ago and it still runs to this day. However with the recently new addition of CS2 I wanted to start playing it again. In CSGO I could achieve quite high fps while maintaining it also, but in CS2 it feels like I'm being deeply bottlenecked due to my old PC from 2014 or so.

These are my current specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7600K CPU @ 3.80GHz
8,00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Granted this is real old stuff by now, and I also don't know about what fans, motherboard and all that I have..

Do I just sell these parts and completely rebuy a newly built PC? I think I would need like a i7/i9 with rtx 4060+ to have good numbers in CS2

Say I'm on a budget, but still want to run CSGO in 1920x1080 with medium to low settings with an avg of 300+ fps -- what would the best suitable option for me be?

Is it possible for me to get rid of my current cpu + gpu and just replace them in my gig or is it time to update everything in order to not risk being bottlenecked still

Would appreciate some help

you should consider upgrading your memory. (ram) to minimum 64 GB ram. your motherboard should have 4 dimm slots for maximum memory. Your GPU I'D also upgrade you can get a 4060 now a days for cheap cheap. Rule of thumb anything you buy today becomes obsolete tomorrow. Loses value also retain original packaging if u plan to resell.

You think it's the CPU bottlenecking me?

Also does the RAM that I can add need to be the exact same as the ones I already have?

What about GPU

I googled the minimum requirements for CS2 and you are *just* making their requirement.

I think you are not using recommended specifications for new/newer games your cpu is more than enough. You GPU is old you need to upgrade it and your using 8GB ram which is causing your bottle necks. What kind of memory is it? DDR3 or DDR4? Yes it needs to be the same speed and but brand doesnt matter I suggest GSkill or Kingston. What Power Supply do you have? do you know if it's modular? Is your PC a custom build or some generic brand. I have further questions such as what your mother board is and socket type for your processor.
you can use tools such as CPU-z to show this information.

you could spend all sorts of money on new parts but your pc just needs some minor upgrades to be sufficient.

here to help if u need it.

CS2 is a lot more demanding on your GPU than CSGO. If you haven't cleaned out the inside of your PC and changed the thermal paste then you may be getting thermal throttled and losing performance. Have you seen what exactly is bottlenecking you?

Depending on use hardware usually lasts 7-10 years for casual users so it's probably time to start buying replacements anyway. If you have a Microcenter near you they usually have good bundles on RAM, motherboards and processors! You wouldn't need more than 24-32GB of RAM if all you're doing is playing CS2 and doing other stuff on the side.
