pending sides and whitening on back. If its mint 35-40 usd

I'd say his price check is accurate. The card was mass produced. Check a few price guides and what it has sold for. 35-50 usd, but mostly around as he said, 40 or so.

How does one test the fakeness?

Man, years ago I used to have one of these exact cards in the plastic. Somehow lost it i guess during one of my moves. Very sad.
