Hi. I just moved and my new modem location is on the other side of the house so I can't hardwire anymore without a 100ft ethernet stretching across my floors.

I need a wireless adapter.

I'm not sure if pci offers anything more over usb in terms of speed or reliability?

I would prefer from Amazon as I have a gift card. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

PCIe adapters are usually better than comparable USB ones. Wifi has a range of ~150ft so either one is probably going to give you a slow/unreliable connection depending on what you use your PC for.

Here’s the one we use for my clients at work:
TP-Link AC1300Mbps USB 3.0 WiFi Adapter

It is better to have Ethernet than far away Wi-Fi. I have Wi-Fi extender and uses Wi-Fi adapter ac and ax and both have problems. The ac runs well but lose connection randomly. The ax doesn’t read correctly and have slow download speed and load sites very slow and could shut down too if it already slow.

If you have a basement run it into it then back up near your pc.

You could always run it along the base of walls and use tape or rubber strips in walkways

If you have carpet you can run it around the edges to your PC, if you own or mortgage you could run it under house and up through the floor relatively easily and use rubber/silicon pieces to seal and close up the area around the cord or use some sort epoxy.

Otherwise id go with a PCIe over USB but as a last resort IMO if youve exhausted your options.

I also suggest looking around your new place and see if your internet provider is able to move your modem closer to your PC ( I requested what room mine was in coz it had the hookups in multiple rooms and a main hub in the laundry room that all the ports ran to as the mother circuit panel ).

I think this may be my best option. I rent but I think I can drill a hole in the floor and run the line through the basement. I just have to try and drill in a spot I can hide later 🤣

They just installed the modem yesterday and when I asked about having it placed where my pc is they said they couldn't because they would have to drill through brick to run the cable line and they're not allowed. My building is all brick, and there was already a line run where they connected the modem. I'm gonna try and drill down through the floor and run through the basement though! Thank you
