im using the link also with the brackets on both sides + adding the .png/.jpg but it still wont show up any help?

You will need to use the direct image URL, and not just adding .jpg at the end by yourself.
You can either copy the share links from your image uploading website directly or you can get the direct image URL by rightclicking on the image itself and choose 'copy image location'.

Maybe you can post the link you are trying to show up as an image here and we can figure it out together.

Yes, the album links can only show as an URL, not as an image.
Most image uploading websites have a share link labeled as 'BBCode (Forums)' which will work to embed the image in your posts.

Otherwise just right click the image itself after uploading and get the link from the context menu by clicking 'copy image location'.
