you have to right click on the image and press copy image address. for some reason if you use another method it gives you a link that won't work. the end of the url needs a file extension such as jpg, png, gif, and so on.

Easiest way is to screen snip with windows + shift + s. Crop your image with the snipping tool and then cntrl+v in the post. It will automatically upload and do the image tags for you.

You will always need to use the direct image link ending in a file extension such as .jpg, .png or .gif. Rightclick the image and copy the image url.
