Hi there,

I recently made a post about a script I wrote that helps users launch D2r quicker for the purpose of multiboxing (ie playing more than one account concurrently).
The post was taken down and I got a message from one of the mods that this was due to it having a hyperlink to an external site which is fair enough.

I messaged the mod last night to say thanks and asked if reposting without the link (referencing google instead) would be ok.
I didn't get a response today (which I'm not criticising) but thought it should be fine so I reposted the post without the link and referenced google for folks who wanted further information (as the readme on the site has info on what the script does etc).

I jumped on tonight and notice my account had been suspended for a brief amount of time for "hacks" which to be honest is pretty unbelievable as this is in no way a hack, it's just a simplified game launcher that does stuff that people already do manually in Windows.
Even if I was interested, which I'm not, I wouldn't even know how to make a hack as I'm not a programmer.

I feel like this is the ideal forum to discuss this topic and share something people might find useful and I'm confused as to why it's not allowed.
Functionally it does exactly what is outlined in this highly viewed thread (https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=87558045) of killing the process handle and the only other thing it does to the game is it changes the title of the game window.
How is that post fine but my method which is functionally the same isn't?

This is pretty frustrating as all I want to do is share this with the community (for free), hopefully help some people and open a means for discussion.
I would much appreciate if I can get some clarification from site mods around this please.

Happy to walk someone through what it actually is as it's frankly baffling that it was classified as a hack.
Thanks.

As I understand it you are altering the game somehow to run faster but the other guide is actually just a guide on how to legally run multi boxes for d2R.

For that, I think you are violating

Atleast what it looks to me.

The game is not altered in any way. It is just a QOLized way of killing the checkforotherinstances process and starting the d2r with cli parameters with a little shell "GUI" in top

Posting scripts and third party tools like these on the site is not allowed for a few reasons, the main one being they often contain malicious software, such as keyloggers, etc.
While your intention may come from a genuine place, and the software you link may be fine to run, the bottom line is all such tools are prohibited to be shared on the site. The few outliers to this rule are added in stickies.

Hypothetically, you could push out a version tomorrow that contains malicious content. Not saying you would, but that's an outcome we have to keep in mind. At the end of the day, our users' safety is paramount, and that's really the bottom line.

As for the suspension, like you mentioned yourself, you didn't wait to hear back from the site staff you contacted and went ahead and posted the content in question, before you received the go-ahead. Next time, wait for that reply. See rule #12 & #13.
