I am currently having some worrying issues with my pc. I built it around 3 years ago. One major issue is today I started up a game that I played all last night. As soon as I hit play it blue screens and restarts the pc.

When I start back up the game is now missing completely off my computer.

Also when playing games I'm getting this weird loud scratch vibrating whine noise. Have my case open and I am listening and it sounds like it's coming from everywhere.

The whine sound goes away as soon as I tab out of games. It's really hard to describe. Any help would be appreciated.

GPU is running at 54 Celsius while the game is running. Also I noticed that if I cap my frames in game to 60 the whine stops. It can play it at 120 no problem but the whine comes back.

try doing a load test on your gpu maybe? if no whine there, then try a cpu load test, seems like a fan is probably failing (and possibly shorting out)

I've had a similar issue with a noise that sounds similar to yours. Cant tell where from my PC it's coming from, but itll do it in multiple games but like, with the game.

For instance, I'll have the pause menu up. When I hover over an option, itll make the noise, itll instantly stop when i unhighlight an option, and instantly when hovering over another. But it's the PC making the noise not the game/speakers. It's never actually caused an problem though.

Haven't ever had a blue screen in my life. But it sounds like it might be your hard drive going out, especially if the game you tried to start up suddenly disappeared.

yeah might be a good choice to record the sound so we know what we're working with as well

Mine has done it ever since I bought it about 2 years ago. Was a prebuilt. Like I said at least for me it has never been an issue, just weird. It's definitely not a fan, I can guarantee that. Maybe the HDD. If I was home and knew how to record and upload audio I would, for reference to help out OP.

Sounds like you could be having a PSU issue and that could be PSU Whine from when its having to deliver extra power to the GPU the PSU fan ramps up.

Whats your GPU, PSU and CPU?

easiest thing to test is the PSU

sounds like a current draw issue on either the 9 or 12 volt rail

I'm 100% sure it's coming from my GPU. Also it's related to FPS changes.
