Whenever i go back after i make a thread, there is no 'edit ' button.

Any ideas?

Everywhere, except in the trading grounds the edit time is limited to 30minutes.

In the Trading grounds its up to 3 days since your last edit, but keep in mind that its only the first post

Which area is the topic in? How long after the post are you trying to edit?

Usually after 3 days of posting a thread, your first initial post is able to be edited. For each post, its 30 minutes to edit unless you buy forum gold and validate yourself on the site.

If you do that, then you're able to expand it to longer.

I have recently purchased forum gold and was told about the benefits. (Still says benefits active on my account)
But edit disappears before the 24 hour mark.

Sounds like you are confusing purchasing fg with being a verified member. Either you didn’t do the right process to be verified, or you have not allowed enough time for the verification process.

what is involved in the verification process? im a 2010 member.
