Did you try to restart browser after installing the script?
Check error console if there's anything in there: ctrl+shift+j, click "errors", click "Clear", then refresh page and see if something comes up. Copy-paste here.

The thing is when I click the Greasemonkey "JS" icon, it just turns GM on and off.

Hm that's odd. Have to go for now, will test with GM a little later (for some time only used scriptish in firefox. You can try that too, just to be sure) and post an update.

Also, exact firefox and gm versions? Using noscript or something like that? I'll try to replicate the bug then.

I'll try scriptish, maybe it's designed to work with that best.

7 day bump maybe someone else is interrested? again, it can be used to insert arbitrary text (like bbcode) into text fields, make quick links to favorite sections/topics/user etc.
