First off. I got removed from SA because of the past that is tied behind IHPK guild and the choices that members and leaders made that I was aware of as the Owner due to the fact that I blame others and didn't accept responsibility solely. Fact is people change and this was years ago I am not that person anymore.

In terms of SA I did what was required of me and did a great job at it. I dont see why your even posting here...

So kindly please stop talking about it. Lesson learned.

You are correct due to the choices I made over a decade ago I likely will never earn a Trusted Tag and I've accepted that outcome. Because while you trolls continue to flame and bash I have my circle of friends and you have yours. Let's stay in our circles and stop this shit show from 20 years ago.

which is exactly what I pointed out, you have a shady character.

I'm not shady. I gave my advice. I basically told the guy you have a choice. You can have a guilty conscious or do the right thing.
I don't see why you are even speaking here dude...

Basically if you got Skeletons in the closet it's best to be upfront about them. I simply try to be the best version of myself now and the past we learn from.

Don't think it counts as stolen property since every airport seems to have these auctions

I can't 100% say for sure but it seems these auctions are very common at least across the United States

With TSA being a federally backed organization, I HIGHLY doubt you will be in any legal trouble with verified proof of purchase from the TSA.

As for the company,
What company is so dedicated to retrieving a year old laptop, unless there is potential "evidence" or some other cause for them to press legal charges against an honorably attained piece of technology.

They don't want the laptop. They couldn't care less about it.
They want whatever info was on it before you molested it.

I would notify the company that you have already diddled it, wiped it clean, and are respectfully requesting that they accept responsibility for the fact that one of their dirtbag employees misplaced the laptop, and remove any lock they have on it. Noting that it was legally obtained, and their lack of action is akin to forfeiting any rights to ownership of the laptop.

You have the TSA on your side. I doubt they will claim to have sold you stolen items. Put their organization at risk more than you are.

Personally would go TSA reimbursement route, if that fails or they want you to do nonsense, try the company. Have company reimburse you for what you paid at auction + s/h. If they don't, swap the drive imo

This isn't the same as I found your wallet on the ground and dropped it in ur mailbox kinda thing. 100% should get your money back or fuck em.

Or could file police report against airport for sale of stolen goods (quick Google) lol

Lol yea and then charge you with receiving stolen property :p

Many jurisdictions have statutes that modify the common law's treatment of lost property. Typically, these statutes require lost personal property to be turned over to a government official, and that if the property is not claimed within a set period of time, it goes to the finder, and the original owner's rights to the property are terminated.

The laptop would be considered abandoned I feel and the company no longer has rights to it
The company should have made efforts to locate and get back the laptop

The tsa didn't do what they are supposed to it seems also

Passengers are encouraged to place their contact information on the outside of their electronics, such as laptops, in case the item is left behind. TSA will make every effort to reunite passengers with their belongings.

Unclaimed electronics will have its memory removed and destroyed (e.g. laptop hard drive) or be destroyed completely (e.g. items with non-removable memory) to protect personal data after the 30-day holding period.

Truthfully I would return it to the TSA etc... but you could just buy another SSD for inside and reinstall windows so Bitlocker isn't activated for lost device. But you decide what you wanna do bud.

If he was serious, I have an idea (mostly because that's how I feel  ). Hear me out!

Most people -> Turn it over to police! (as if he stole it... give him the benefit of the doubt, who cares)
You -> Well, there's A and B. I ain't yo daddy, I gave you the resources, now find your own path. You know what to do, ain't nobody gonna tell you what to do.
