It's a server issue, as they think you're still online when you're not. Nothing can really be done until they completely restart the servers.

Although, if you have a 2nd cdkey - you'll be able to get online :)

I've had this issue a few days ago. I opened a ticket with Blizzard and they answered it with similar statement with that they answered you and closed the ticket. I reopened the ticket (you have the option to do that) and they replied saying they will force the server to log me off. Now it's working perfectly.

See if you can reopen your ticket and requst for them to force log you off.

Game Master Ixzal here and sorry about these problems logging into Diablo 2. Typically, when you see this error it indicates that the game server thinks you are still logged into the server. This usually resolves after a few minutes but can sometimes take a few hours.

Since it's persisted over 24 hours, the server may have gotten hung up on something so I took a few steps on our side to force the account offline. This should hopefully let you get logged back into the game!
