I would just go to a brick and mortar like Best Buy or Microcenter whatever you got available and press on some of the displayed keyboards/sometimes they got switches setup so you can feel the difference.
I seen some of the major keyboard brands have all their mechanical switches you can purchase for like 10$ and press each one from the comfort of your own home. Switches themselves when you get into the mechanical game whether hotswapped boards or one's you gotta solder the switches on are really cheap (like 25cents ea cheap). Just remember you gotta buy like 105 of them if you're doing full keyboard length or short one etc.
For me the issues I had with hand straining or arm going numb was the sitting angle in relation to my desk.
I sit reclined back and reach very far away from my desk and I have to reach forward into my desk and my elbows barely reach the arm rest on my Razer chair(idk what it's called but it was 400 when I bought it 2-3 years ago. So basically I'm holding my arms out in front of me similar to the seating position in a cruiser style motorcycle.
Your shoulders should be relaxed, your elbows should reach the arm rest and your hands should be able to rest on the desktop/keyboard between 60 to 90degree bend.
If not I'm sure everyone has felt the shoulder and neck pains of slouching/bad seating position. Most people blame it on the chairs but you can literally sit upright without a backrest and be fine.
I use one or those cookie cutter IKEA huge alex drawer/counter top with a peg leg for more support in the middle of the desk 75+ inch desk with my mid tower and 3x 27in monitors on it like in all the YouTuber videos. Saying my setup more so you can get a mental image of your seating orientation etc.
But I have a K70 from corsair when it was the flagship model, a Razer blackwidow v3, then got sucked into the keyboard hype and got one of those 60% keyboards from Razer with optical switches when it was getting more popular. Now I have the 375$ DIY'ish one from Glorious.
(I donate all my old parts to my wife and kids pc's so they're happy lol)
TLDR: I think it's more about sitting position/arm positioning that relates to occupational hazards(like typing prescriptions at a desk all day in a pharmacy for example). 9 times out of 10 any pain associated with gaming is usually a ergonomics issue. Is why people love console gaming cause it's mainly wireless controller with a couch or whatever you're more comfortable in.
Great post and something I need to think about. My posture blows.
